I really liked this book, Jennifer Longo is a phenomenal writer for this to be a debut book. This book talks about the heavy subject of death and what it entails in a fun, quirky and upbeat way. I loved the characters, especially Leigh. This fifteen year old girl has brains, snark, sarcasm, a work ethic like non other and so much compassion for others. But Leigh is also holding a lot in, she takes care of anything and everything thrown her way and never lets anyone lighten her burdens for her. When it all starts to weigh entirely too heavy upon her she still manages to keep up her witty attitude and slightly necrotic behavior.

"Six Feet Over It" was nothing like I expected, I got it without reading the synopsis, a purchase made completely on the title (cause sometimes I'm random and impulsive) thinking it was going to be a grim reaper paranormal type read and it turned out to be so much more than a make believe story. I got friendship, love, grieving, and death in a witty and charming novel that deals with these which are some of the deepest issues in life.

From what I gathered the author Jennifer Longo actually did live through a similar experience, he father bought a cemetery and had her working in the office from time to time, and planting flowers with her sister. So it was something she dealt with and grew up with. We learn at all different ages what death means and how to live with, learn from and through it.

This truly is an amazing book, Longo is a fantastic writer that drew me in and held me the whole way through, I loved the characters and their wide range of personalities, and problems and how they all came together. I loved the internal dialog from Leigh and the battle of guilt and remorse that lived inside her. I learned a lot about myself and my own feelings on the topics that arose as well.
