Holy smokes! That wasn't what I was expecting...it was so much more!! Portia Moore is an amazing writer and story teller! I felt the drama, heartache, confusion, and anger right along with the characters! This is one amazing story and not like anything I have read in a long long time. I am now a lifetime fan of Portia Moore!!!
The characters are passionate and feel so real, I felt as if I was reading about a friend of a friend. Lauren is one strong woman, I could never go through the things she has and be so reasonable in the end. She has a wonderful support group for herself in Raven, the wonderful older, wiser and motherly woman, and her two college friends are polar opposites to each other but provide some comedy and tons of support to both sides of the coin in all of Lauren's ups and downs. Cal's "boss"/best friend Dex and his wife Helen are a bit of a mystery themselves, always playing a part behind the scenes in some way or another. Then there is Cal, he is charming, enigmatic, mysterious and demanding. How she puts up with his disappearing acts and mood swings is beyond me but magnetism in a relationship will allow us women to put up with a lot, I know because my husband drives me absolutely crazy, although he and Cal don't share the same problem.
I don't want to tell you what the story is about, if you want that read the synopsis, but what I will tell you is that it has secrets, lies, betrayals, mystery, suspense, drama, heartache, loss, love, chemistry, and shock in this story, making it out of this world and I look forward to finding out what happens next for these crazy, wonderful people! It is nothing if not exciting and most definitely a page turner, I highly recommend this read to all!
