This was a fairly good book, it was a fast read with a wonderful plot and decent writing. Regina Cole did really well with this book, I just feel like it was missing something, I didn't get sucked into the story or feel emotionally invested in the characters. I liked Hailey, she is a good person with ambitions and goals, but she was overly sensitive to her parents break up for someone who had to witness or hear the fights they frequently had. Hailey just didn't click with me as well as I wish she had.
Neill, oh Neill he would make a perfect boy friend, lover and tattoo artist, but he is such a whinny guy. I felt like he didn't have any balls for a guy that had a rough up bringing and spent most of his life in a tattoo shop. oh she needs space, let me cry about, then get pissed and be a jerk. I just wasn't a fan of his personality, his body on the other hand...HUGE fan! The other guys from the tattoo shop, I did like they all had a great sense of humor, comradery and accepted Hailey in without a second thought.
Like I said the plot was amazing, the conflict topics were great, this book has potential to be amazing but I just didn't feel it. I spent a lot of my life around drug addicts, tattoo artist, bikers and most of my friends were in college while I was just starting High School, so I know the type of people they can be and most are damaged emotionally from something or another from the past. Neill just didn't give off the right vibe for his background in this story. I hope it's just me that feels this way, and I am NOT saying that this book isn't worth reading, because although I sound negative about it, it was actually a REALLY GOOD BOOK. So don't take my opinion to heart too much, I'm kind of picky when it comes to particular subjects or character types.
